In December 2016, Sony and Hawk-Eye ran a successful initial trial of the production set-up using Sony PMW-500 cameras and the Hawk-Eye SMART Production technology, shooting Hackney Empire’s Christmas pantomime production,

A special performance of the 18th century comedy is being captured by Sony PMW-F55 4K cameras.

This will allow audiences to fully appreciate the expanded colour space captured by Sony’s PMW-F55 4K camera – giving cinemagoers a life-like experience with richer, more vibrant on-screen tones and textures than conventional HD transmission.
